Omega-7: The Healthy Fat You’ve Never Heard Of

Recently, we’ve been digging up some of the more obscure gems of health and nutrition, so I’m not bucking that trend today. Omega-7 – chances are, you already have it in your diet; but what are the best sources? How much should you aim to get in a day? And – most importantly – what are the benefits to your health? Tuck into today’s post for more…

Do You Have the Power? Stepping Up to Athlete Status

Power! Some might say it’s only attainable if you class as “elite”. Fact is, there’s no reason you can’t perform like the elite. There are levels to progress through before you can attain such a high level of performance, but if you’re up to the challenge, then step up and reach beyond what you think is possible. Let’s take a look at what you have to do to start implementing power into your routine…

HMB – Heavily Overlooked, Massively Underrated

My second CXP Edge article delves headlong into one of the more obscure supplements on the market: HMB. In my last post about supplements, I gave you my Top Five – this one definitely snags the sixth spot if I were to extend the list! If you’re looking to drop bodyfat, but anxious about losing muscle, then read this post to put your mind at ease. HMB is the “supplement wingman” you’ll be needing!

Hot vs. Cold – The Benefits of Each

Hot & Cold – one of natures’ purest examples of a proverbial “Yin and Yang” – is a dichotomy that can often lead to us leaning towards one or the other with no middle ground to be found. I want to reshape how you view each when it comes to taking showers. Now, I’ve always been a “hot shower guy”, personally; however, there are irrefutable benefits to be obtained from them both, and so, I now make sure that I reap what I can from each every single day. In the Sales Industry they have a thing called “KYE” (‘Know Your Enemy’); as the age old adage goes – ‘Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer’. If calories are the enemy, then let’s get to know them inside and out, then that way we might be able to use them to our advantage! But seriously – war-strategy-puns aside – I want to help you better understand calories in a way that we start to appreciate them rather than fear them. Read on for more…

How Many Sets and Reps? Understanding the Effects of Rep Range and Set Volume

We take a big dip into the lifting domains of “sets & reps” as we analyse the different ways that we can teach the muscle to adapt and grow, and evaluate the benefits of each. This post is especially helpful if you’ve just started incorporating weights into your fitness routine, and/or if you’ve had a program whipped up by a Personal Trainer and want to better understand his/her recommendations (if they haven’t already explained them to you). But even if you are a more experience lifter, this may still help to open your mind to changing up how you train, and reap the benefits of having muscles that not only look good or perform longer or simply lift a ton, but kick a$$ at all three!

Supplements: The Essential Basics

This inaugural CXP Edge post takes an extensive look at various aspects of supplements and what you should know if you’re just starting to consider using them. Even if you’re already stocked up, you’ll still gain insights into things that you might not have thought of when selecting from the wide variety of products on the market. I won’t be getting into the details of each ingredient, but valuable sagacity still abounds throughout as I cover “proprietary blends”, “meal replacements”, deceptive marketing, under-dosing, and more. Also, I’ll be filling you in on my Top 5 Supplements for Beginners as an added bonus!
